E. & A. Müller, Schwarza/Saale — 1897-1927

A charming porcelain sculpture of a fox or wolf. It is depicted lying down, its body taut, appearing ready to pounce – rendered with great expressiveness, particularly the prominent muscles, the face, and the bushy tail. It is made of white porcelain with black and gray finishes on the paws, ears, eyes, and muzzle. It is signed “Corona” with a star, the mark used by the German manufacturer E. & A. Müller, Schwarza/Saale, between 1897 and 1927. This luxury porcelain manufacturer, originally from Bavaria, was active between 1890 and 1930. The sculpture also bears two numbers, 4060 and 21. It is a very fine example, both in size (26 cm) and in perfect condition.
