No. 26-027 – Vienna Bronze: Nude Young Woman on an Oriental Rug, Austria, early 20th century
Bergmann (attr.) — 1900-1925
A lovely small cold-painted Vienna bronze depicting a nude young woman holding a cape while standing on an oriental rug. The female figure is exquisitely delicate, featuring fine details—particularly in the facial features. Her hair is painted yellow (styled in a bun) and the draped garment is red. The rug is sculpted and features green and white painted accents. The subject matter (nude figure, Orientalist theme), sophisticated craftsmanship, and fine sculpting suggest high-quality origins—possibly the workshop of Franz Xaver Bergmann (1861–1936) or another Viennese foundry active between 1900 and 1925. The piece bears no signature (which was common for Bergmann’s work). Magnificent golden patina.
Dimensions: 9 x 7 x 4 cm.
Good condition; minor paint loss and slight scuffs on the bronze.
